PRABHUJEE took birth in the family of Pradhan's at Naogaon under Sabang Police Station. During childhood his name was
Kenaram Pradhan. He had two maternal uncles, names Iswar Chandra Maiti and Sarbeswar Maiti. Sarbeswar Maiti and his
wife were childless couple and Sarbeswar died at an early age of 40 (forty). Iswar Maiti has a second sister,
named Allhadi. She had no child and she became a widow within few years of her marriage. She came to Bhishindipur
to stay with her brother.
Kenaram continued his study at his maternal uncle's place. Once Kenaram, at the age of eight went to
Gangasagar Mela with his aunt Allhadi. While enjoying the Mela, Kenaram was missed. As recalled this event
later, he said that a person took him to Sri Yukteswar Giri Maharaj's camp which was situated near Kapil
Muni's Ashram. After missing Kenaram started crying. To calm him, Sri Yukteswar Giri gave him some sweets
and asked his whereabouts. After listening from Kenaram, Sri Yukteswar Jee announced the name of his aunt
to take her nephew from the camp. Kenaram's aunt (Masima) became overwhelmed with joy and took back Kenaram.
His aunt described everything about Sri Yuketeswar Giri Jee, the eminent KRIYA YOGA master.
It became very difficult for Kenaram to stay at home. He repeatedly requested his aunt to send him to Sri
Yukteswar Jee's Ashram. To fulfil the wish of Kenaram his aunt introduced him to a person known as Srinivas
Hajra (Yet the house and property of Srinivas Hajra is intact near the Ashram).
One day both Kenaram and Hajra went to Ijmail chhak to know the whereabouts of Sri Yukteswar Giri Jee. After collecting all the
information about him, they went to Durgapur Kirya Yoga congregation where Kenaram for the second time saw Sri Yukteswar Giri Jee from a distance. Later on one day he left home and went directly to the Ashram at Srirampur near Howrah. At that time he was about 12/13 years old. It was well known to Masima that once definitely he will go to Sri Yukteswar Jee. Therefore neither Masima nor anyone else from the family went to search anywhere else.
After a few days Masima went to Srirampur to meet and blessed him to get success in his divine path.
After listening in details to Sri Yukteswar Girijee, Kenaram devoted himself under Karar Ashram of Puri. After taking Sanyas his Master named him Swami Narayan Giri (Prabhujee).
Once Swami Narayan Giri Jee met his uncle Iswar Maiti at Puri and took him to the ashram. Iswar Maiti stayed there for about 2 to 4 days. Iswar Maiti requested Swami Narayan Giri to come and stay with him at Bhishindipur. As there was nobody in the family to inherit the property after him. Iswar Maiti wished to donate all his property in the name of Swami Narayan Giri and the Ashram.
Prabhujee took Maha Samadhi at Puri on 31st October, 1985. His Holiness Swami Shankarananda Giri. President of Kirya Yoga Trust named the School as PRABHUJEE ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL after the name of Swami Narayan Giri (Prabhujee) as a mark of respect.
